WFMW - OxyClean

I am going green. I have gotten rid of just about all the chemicals in the house. I swear by vinegar and baking soda. I have even switched over to a homemade laundry soap that works much better than the commercial products.
And then there is OxyClean - I don't use it all the time and I try other things first but it gets out stains like nothing else. And stains are a big part of life with a little one, or at least my little one. The key which my mother-in-law shared on her latest visit is to make a paste of it and apply directly to the stain. Leave it sit for awhile. Wash as normal. Bye Bye stain

    I've got some stuff soaking in the sink with Oxyclean right now. It is fabulous.

    I don't like chemical products either but I keep Oxyclean around.

WFMW - Sewing Machine

What works for me this week is my sewing machine. I am in love with my sewing machine. I have missed it. I have been so busy with my classwork that I have not pulled it out since I finished Froggy's Halloween costume. This week has been a return to normalacy and for me normalcy means sewing. I finished finding m y c raft room on Monday. So yesterday I sewed. I made a skirt for me testing out a new pattern. The pattern is basic and easy with very little fitting. It is not the most flattering of patterns but it supposed to be a plain backdrop for embellishments. I may add a bit of shaping so it is not so full through the hips when I make it again with the embellishments. As soon as the weather dries out, I can go outside and spread out and sandwich together the baby quilts I need to finish up for the new arrivals that are almost here. Tadpoles II

Our tadpoles are still alive despite some very dubious care.  We went to check on them and found that one had sprouted teeny tiny legs.  It was amazing how tiny the legs were, so tiny that at first I thought it was a smudge of dirt clinging to him. Froggy suggested we document the moment in our journals.  So we did.  It was lots of fun watching Froggy making multicolored tadpoles. Continuing our Frog theme, we completed a fun worksheet from Adventures in Mamaland about the life cycle of the Frog.  Froggy was thrilled with the opportunity to learn the Hebrew names for her current passion.  To tie everything together we made Froggy's pride and joy - a poster of the life cycle.   I drew the shapes which Froggy cut out.   Then she pasted them next to the appropriate label I had written.  Then she decorated them.  Complete with googly eyes because "googly eyes make everything better."
