I am starting my Passover preparations. Later than I would like but probably in a more organized fashion than usual so hopefully that will balance out. I have cleaned out my kitchen cabinets and dining room breakfront of items that we don't use. Some will go to long term storage and some have been freecycled and some just tossed. Doing this has made space to store away some items that normally sit out but can't during Passover as well as given me a totally empty cabinet which once cleaned and covered with new shelf liner will hold my Passover dishes all year long. This year we have a new plan for how to clean the house which starts with making the kitchen Pesadick first and then moving out. It is so totally different than anything I have ever done before that it is terrifying. We have eggs again. Our ice cream nest that suffered tradgedy early this spring is once again full of eggs. There are now six eggs in it. I have tried to take pictures but while the nest is visible I cannot get a good picture of the eggs. This time around we do see a mommy bird caring for the nest and visiting it regularly. The mother looks like a finch of some kind. Hopefully this means that soon we will have nestlings. According to the limited research I have found it should be 14-20 days until hatching.

Ok I failed to do a Purim book review because I was waiting till after Purim. I am not going to make that mistake with Passover so here it is. I have even organized them by preference. Dinosaur on Passover - A fun silly story that is perfect for a little one who thinks any book is better if it includes dinosaurs. This book came to us courtesy of PJ Library which is a wonderful program that sends a Jewish book once a month to each child based on their age. The first year is free. How can you knock free books? While some have not been big hits, we will probably go ahead, pay the money an renew because it is the best way I have found to find Jewish children's books. Let My People Go - This is a PJ title listed for 6yr olds but I saw it on the list and had to have it. It tells the Passover story as a play and is hysterical. So much fun to read.
